Effectiveness of the research
When we conducted the research for our product we used
primary and secondary research.
The primary research we used was a focus group. We thought
the focus group was helpful and answered the questions we had, there was slight
difficulty meaning we wasn’t able to print of the questionnaires and unable to
present the mood board to the focus group. Not being able to get the focus
group to be able to complete the questionnaire thankfully hasn’t effected our
research too much as the focus group were quite vocal about their thoughts and
questions about the app which we scribed down and have used in the development
of the app. The focus group was the best research for our app because we got
the feedback we needed to know that would make our app better and improve it.
We go to hear what others thought of it and whether they would buy it. They
told us strengths and weaknesses of our app and we have taken both into account
to make the app better. Some of the feedback we got was they suggested an
“online/offline” system which now we have taken and put into our app. This now
means from the focus group we have developed features for the app if there is no
available Internet for them to be able to find a bus.
The secondary research we conducted was looking for other
apps similar to ours and competition finding what is already available to the
public. We did find many different apps available but one thing we found was
they were all in regions and areas not by any particular bus companies apart
from one in Edinburgh. Also most of the apps were mainly about bus times and
where they stop at. None of these apps contained a tracker system to find where
your bus was or gave you the option to be able to buy your ticket on the app.
As a group we did research into the colour themes and
layouts from the companies First and Stagecoach. We did this through looking on
their websites and finding their leaflets to see how they wish their data to be
shown and what colours represent the company. We did this because we know it
would appeal to the public if the layout was easy to understand and
navigate.
All of our research techniques have majorly helped the
development of our app. We have now changed our app with the feedback and the
secondary research and we believe it has made the app better and more people
will agree to buy it with the changed we have made.
